Founded jointly by Mr. Liao Dexiu of Howard Hotels and Mr. Hayao Tanabe, President of SUNMERRY Co., Ltd. Japan, Sunmerry opened Taiwan’s first Taiwan-Japan joint bakery chain in 1986 on Yongkang Street, introducing innovative products and Japanese craftsmanship to Taiwan.

In 1999, Doutor Coffee Co., Ltd. took over SUNMERRY Japan, bringing a younger, trend-forward image to the brand. Today, Sunmerry has nearly 40 directly operated stores, with locations from Hsinchu northward in Taiwan, as well as in Los Angeles and New Jersey, USA.

For over 40 years, Sunmerry has upheld its brand spirit of “brightness, warmth, health, and joy.” In 2023, the brand launched its parent-child playland to bring even more happiness to children.
